Living Generously
From early on we learn to share and that’s a good thing. As we grow from reluctance, perhaps in sharing a toy with a playmate, to see the benefits of sharing, we grow in understanding of what it means to be part of something much greater than self. Ultimately, we discover giving is an act of community building and a way of multiplying abilities, that is, doing far more together than we can alone.
Through weekly offerings and other forms of giving —including acts of kindness, volunteer work, service projects that impact the lives of others, generosity flows and we, in the end, are fortunate to be engaged in ways that are far beyond one’s imagination.
Learning to share, to be generous, is life giving to those who receive. But, more times than not, the one who gives finds greater joy in knowing she or he has made a difference.
